Profiles and connected accounts

An active profile is also your draft workspace while social connections are still in setup. You can upload and edit pending drafts before any platform connects. Each successfully connected publishing account becomes available in the post's destination choices; you do not need to finish every listed connection first. Add account to profile in the post’s Accounts section opens that profile in Settings when no connected destination is available. If connected accounts are available but none are selected, the section says Select at least one account. An unconnected account is not a publishing destination, and uploading a draft does not authorize publication.

In Settings → Profiles, the setup opens automatically when you have no profiles. Once a profile exists, use Create profile to create another. A ShootFeed profile groups social accounts. On the first step, Create a ShootFeed profile, enter a ShootFeed profile name, such as your business or brand name, then choose Choose accounts. This name is chosen inside ShootFeed; the following steps select and authorize your social accounts. You can create separate profiles for different brands, businesses, or personal accounts. A single profile can include Instagram, Threads, a Facebook Page, and X together; a separate profile for each platform is unnecessary. No user, including the owner, chooses a profile type in setup. The existing owner Reddit library and owner Reddit posting destinations remain available.

The Profiles page explains that a profile is one ShootFeed workspace for a person or brand, with their social accounts together. Open a profile to manage its accounts. Archive Profile and Add Account stay in the bottom action bar while its settings scroll. Add Account opens the account form in that bar; choose a platform, enter its account name, then choose Add Account to save it. For Facebook, choose Choose Pages on Facebook instead of typing a Page name. Start typing an account name to see matching connected accounts for the selected platform. Suggestions match the beginning of the name, stay hidden for an empty input, and omit accounts already in this profile. Each compact suggestion shows only its account name and Already added status. Choose a suggestion, then choose Add Account to reuse its existing authorization. You can still type a new account instead. Archiving still asks for confirmation and offers eight seconds to undo.

A profile keeps a creator or brand's accounts and defaults together. Select the correct profile before editing posts or its schedule. The profile name opens the profile switcher in the header. On desktop and mobile, the button beside the profile photo switches between Performance and Planner. The profile photo menu contains Settings, Help, Getting started when enabled, Sign out, and the theme control at the bottom. Notifications appears there on desktop and mobile with its unread count. A small accent dot on the profile photo indicates unread notifications or owner support messages. Settings → Profiles manages profiles and connected accounts. Already-authorized accounts can be attached using the available account choices. When Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok or X authorization expires or is revoked, the affected row shows Needs reconnect and a Reconnect button instead of appearing healthy. A Reconnect action opened from a publishing error returns to the same post after successful provider authorization. Reddit uses a signed-in browser session, so it does not use this OAuth reconnect flow.

Connected accounts show Connected or Insights enabled without a routine Refresh access or Refresh comment access button. If insights permissions are missing, the affected account offers Enable insights. ShootFeed renews supported existing credentials automatically, including Threads before expiration through its existing background maintenance job. Approaching an expiration date does not itself require reconnection. Temporary provider outages and rate limits leave automatic renewal eligible to retry. A reconnect notification appears only when the provider confirms that the existing refresh grant cannot restore access, or the required grant is missing. It links to the affected account in that workspace. Application configuration errors do not ask customers to reconnect. A confirmed missing or revoked comment permission appears in Notifications and Engagement, with a link to the exact account. Allow comment access starts provider authorization only when consent is needed; it does not refresh ordinary comments. One durable notification tracks each account issue, clears its action when resolved, and becomes unread again if the problem returns.

Check the specific account selected on each post; a platform label alone is not proof that a destination is selected. Provider availability depends on permissions and account eligibility. Do not assert current provider app-review approval from these instructions. Do not ask users to send passwords, tokens or authorization links to Help. Escalate account ownership, unexpected access, or an unavailable connection after checking the selected profile.

Profiles checks current connection status when opened. A connected account can still need renewed audience access: its row shows Audience access needed and Renew audience access when audience collection reports an access failure. This warning replaces the green Insights enabled badge for that account. Renewal starts provider authorization and preserves saved audience history. Open connections from Performance opens the affected account directly and returns to Performance after authorization.

For Facebook, open the intended profile, choose Add Account → Facebook Page, then Choose Pages on Facebook. Create a profile first if you do not have one yet. Sign in once with the personal Facebook profile that manages the Pages and authorize the intended Pages. ShootFeed then shows Choose your Facebook Pages: select up to 20 Pages at a time, choose an existing active social profile for each, or Create a new profile with its own name. Search and Select all help with larger lists. Facebook connections publish to Facebook Pages, not personal profiles. Pages with identical names remain distinct by their Page IDs. Only selected Pages are saved; Cancel discards the selection. A selection expires after 15 minutes. Reconnect an existing Page through its own Reconnect action; adding several Pages does not require repeating the login for each one. Instagram connections require a Professional account. All admitted ShootFeed users can connect Threads for posting and insights through their own authorization. Threads replies remain limited to the existing authorized tester path while review is pending. An Instagram tester invitation does not cover Threads. For Threads reply access during private beta, accept ShootFeed in Threads → Settings → Account → Website permissions → Invites, not Active. If ShootFeed reports missing reply permissions, choose Allow comment access from its notification or Fix access in Engagement and approve the requested permissions. Ordinary Threads publishing connects separately through Connect.

Getting started guides the seven setup steps, including Set your comment reply style. Opening a step minimizes the checklist instead of dismissing it. After closing Settings, choose the Getting started button in the bottom-left corner to continue; it refreshes current progress without a page reload. Click outside the guide, use its minus button, or press Escape to minimize it. Clicking inside keeps it open. Outside-click dismissal is paused while a setup change is saving. Not now dismisses the guide, while Finish setup completes it. You can still reopen Getting started from the profile menu when that shortcut is enabled.

Account identity and profile-name controls say Saved when unchanged, Save Changes after an edit, and Saving… while saving. A muted Saved button means there is nothing to save; invalid edits still need correction before they can be saved.

Settings → Face Library recognizes people, regardless of their profession. Choose Add person, enter a Name, then drop clear face photos into the upload area or choose them from your device. Social accounts are optional: open Social accounts (optional) for separate Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok and X usernames or profile URLs. A person's saved accounts supply the appropriate platform mentions; recognition itself does not require an Instagram account. Existing contacts keep their stored name, accounts and roles. Manage those details in Contacts.

Choose up to ten images per upload, each no larger than 20 MB. Reference storage is limited to five usable photos per person, and unclear faces may be rejected; the result reports saved references and any rejected files. Selected files can be removed before adding. Open an existing person to drop additional photos into that person's reference area, or choose +. Drag existing thumbnails to reorder them; the first is the default photo. Removing references preserves the contact.

Getting started's optional Recognize yourself step checks saved reference photos against your creator name or matching social accounts on connected profiles. A different display name or an unset creator identity no longer hides a match to your connected account. Successful uploads and reference removal refresh the checklist without reloading. Adding another person's photos does not complete your own recognition step.

Getting Started includes Tell ShootFeed who you are, which opens Settings → Account → Creator identity. Save your name and at least one of your own social account handles. Title is optional and begins unselected as Title; saved titles are preserved. This information supports credit defaults and helps identify when the creator appears in their own photos. Saving creator identity refreshes the setup checklist without a page reload.

TikTok is hidden from beta users and the public, including account choices, creator identity, Contacts, Face Library, captions and publishing defaults, and performance controls. It remains available to the ShootFeed owner for private testing. Do not suggest TikTok setup or controls to beta/public users. Existing owner connections and saved settings are preserved. Public access will be enabled only after approval.

Creator identity also offers a YouTube handle field using the same account-field layout. Enter a handle (with or without @) or a youtube.com/@handle URL. Saving normalizes it to an @handle and keeps it when other creator defaults change. This is identity information only; it does not connect a channel, establish that you appear in a video, or enable YouTube publishing for beta users. Connect eligible publishing accounts separately in Settings → Profiles.

Creator identity displays Instagram, Facebook Page, TikTok, X and YouTube as @handle, and Reddit as u/username. You can type a bare username; leaving the field adds its prefix. Existing saved usernames get the same display format. This does not change connected-account IDs or legacy username storage.

Refreshing the detail editor reads face-matching status before deciding whether any work remains. Already-scanned images, resolved suggestions and posts with an attached model do not start another automatic scan on refresh. Automatic matching requires an eligible unscanned still image, available reference photos and remaining usage allowance. Existing background retry handling for failed scans is unchanged.

Confirming or dismissing a suggested face match hides its prompt immediately while the decision saves in the background. A failed save restores the prompt with an error so you can retry; a dismissed prompt alone does not prove that the decision was saved.

Connected TikTok and YouTube account cards can show Set publishing defaults. This opens Settings → Publishing at that account's profile and platform. Review and save its defaults once; each additional account gets a separate reminder. The defaults themselves apply per platform/profile to new posts, and existing posts and caption-writing preferences remain unchanged. The reminder is cleared after a confirmed save, not by opening or closing Settings.

Admitted users, including early-access beta testers, add a YouTube account and choose Connect directly. No separate YouTube acceptance or channel-access request is required. The small info tip helps locate its @handle or channel ID. Complete Google authorization for the intended channel, then choose Public, Unlisted or Private per upload. See [YouTube Shorts](/help/youtube). When YouTube access is revoked and ShootFeed has removed the saved channel identity, Reconnect opens the connection notice and Google authorization without asking you to type the handle again. Choose the intended channel in Google. When Pinterest access is removed, enter the intended Pinterest username and connect through Pinterest again. Replacing a fully cleared account entry in the same profile does not use an extra account slot. Reconnecting does not restore erased provider receipts or Pinterest-specific settings, reset used upload capacity, or republish earlier posts.

When client review is enabled, owners and admins can invite clients from the profile’s Clients section. Clients are separate from workspace team members. They see only posts explicitly shared for their invited profile. See Client review for details.

Settings → Notifications includes a personal Email notifications switch, shared with the client review page’s Notifications control. Turning it off stops optional note emails across profiles without changing in-app alerts. Successful publishes separately controls successful-publish inbox and pop-up alerts. Access invitations and essential account emails remain separate.

Pinterest is available in Settings → Profiles → Add Account for every ShootFeed workspace. Enter the Pinterest username, add the account, then connect through Pinterest and approve its permissions. Each workspace uses its own authorization; adding a username alone does not connect it. Only workspace owners and admins can connect accounts. Existing authorized accounts can be attached to another profile in the same workspace.

A profile can contain multiple Pinterest accounts within its plan’s account limit. Add or attach each account in Profiles. The editor shows a separate named account button for each connected account; choose one or more destinations there. Set each selected account’s board, title, caption and link together under Captions → Pinterest. Account connection and assignment stay in Profiles.

X asks you to review its shared-authorization notice before opening X. Choose Agree and continue to X, then approve only the account and permissions shown by X. Existing connected X accounts can choose Enable shared authorization to opt in. When you independently authorize the same X account in more than one ShootFeed workspace, those workspaces use one automatically renewed X authorization. Each workspace retains its own posts, metrics, members and settings. A matching handle alone never gives another workspace access. Disconnecting one profile preserves other connections you explicitly authorized. Revoking ShootFeed in X affects every workspace linked to that X authorization.

Connection-recovery notices in the detail editor open Profiles at the affected account row. The row is highlighted and stays visible after the profile opens. When several accounts use the same platform, a notice for one publication targets that account. Opening Settings keeps your current detail edit in place.
